Snoring drove everyone crazy. But the full diagnosis was even worse

Snoring is an embarrassing problem, because you have no control over it. In fact, you may not even know you snore. There are lots of gizmos designed to treat sleep disorders, but this case required heavy artillery.

Notes and Miscellanea

  • Experts estimate that as many as 30 million Americans have sleep apnea, but only one in six are diagnosed.
  • In this case, the odds of asphyxiating are pretty remote. But even the possibility is pretty unnerving.
  • The effects have been astonishing: It was once normal to experience an average of 50 “apnea events” per hour. Today, there are rarely as many as three.
